I met Mayrelis (Lily) & Tyler at our church in Bowie, Maryland. In fact, I actually took photos of Tyler the day he was baptized at our church! They are such a wonderful, lovely pair.
They met while serving at Doulos, the young adults ministry at our church and he proposed at Enchant Christmas at Nationals Park in DC (it’s the World’s Largest Christmas Light Maze). Tyler knew that a private and romantic setting like Enchant’s suite would be perfect to pop the question to Lily. After decorating the suite with friends, he took her for a walk around the maze before guiding her to the rose petal covered stairs near their VIP suite and asked her to spend eternity with him.
How romantic, right?! Just wait ’til you see these photos. You’ll absolutely MELT.
Planning a wedding through a pandemic and the world fighting for social justice was not easy, but they made it work! The ceremony was small, beautiful, and socially distanced; their bridesmaids even made custom masks for the guests and bridal party! For Lily’s family in Puerto Rico and Tyler’s family who weren’t able to join them, our church helped to live stream their ceremony!
I mean, seriously, how perfect are these details?!
A family friend in Puerto Rico who used to make dresses for Lily & her sister, Mari, made her a custom bridal mask which was jeweled similarly to her gorgeous gown!
The details on this dress were ALL the heart eyes!!!
The veil she’s wearing in this photo belonged to her grandmother!
And what about that suit jacket!? It was velvet and so cool looking.
Instead of a first look, Lily & Tyler chose to have a blind prayer time together. It was so beautiful.
Two of Lily’s bridesmaids made custom masks for everyone! And the flowers were all done by Tyler’s sisters!
I mean, just LOOK at that A-frame!!! The theme Lily was going for was a Puerto Rican rainforest.
Lily’s sister, Mari, sang “What a Beautiful Name” during the ceremony. It was a moment of pure worship and you could just FEEL God’s presence!
This was my favorite part of the ceremony: the feet washing. Jesus did this for His disciples to show humility and servanthood. He was doing the work of the lowliest of servants. Read John 13:1-17 for more! I don’t think there was a dry eye in the room — I was certainly crying!
Isn’t this the coolest detail ever?! They got this amazing sign custom made on Etsy!
A toast from Pastor Matthew: Tyler’s childhood friend, best man, and leader of our young adults’ small group Doulos.
And then Lily’s brother, Sam, gave a toast, too!
But seriously, how CUTE are these two?!
Tyler was an EXPERT nuzzler!
We didn’t have enough time to capture bridal party photos, but the girls all looked so beautiful!
And their guestbook was a GLOBE! What?! The coolest guestbook idea ever.
Tyler’s mom made the oatmeal cream pies (which were TO DIE FOR!).
One of the best parts of the day for me was getting to have TWO of my brides present! Miranda serves and works at our church and was able to be a part of Lily & Tyler’s day. What a blessing!
